WBF-Swiss Confederation extend cooperation for 2026-29

The Western Balkans Fund and the Swiss Confederation have extended their successful cooperation for the 2026–2029 period, marking a major step forward in the Fund’s long-term development.

The new agreement was signed today in Podgorica, in the framework of the Celebration of the Montenegro Presidency of the Western Balkans Fund in 2026.

For the Western Balkans Fund, this is a remarkable day and a strong signal of trust. The agreement represents a reconfirmation of the Swiss Confederation’s confidence in the mission of the Fund, its regional impact, and its role in strengthening cooperation across the Western Balkans.

The new financial contribution, amounting to around CHF 1 million, will support the institutional strengthening of the Western Balkans Fund, the diversification of its grant schemes, and the expansion of its outreach and long-term sustainability.

This support will help the Fund further enhance its capacity to respond to the growing demand from civil society organizations and other regional stakeholders, while continuing to promote dialogue, trust, and people-to-people cooperation across the region.

The Western Balkans Fund expresses its deep gratitude to the Swiss Confederation for its continued partnership and strategic support, and looks forward to working together in the years ahead to deliver even greater impact for the region.
