Museums for Everyone: Making Culture Accessible Across the Western Balkans

Museums belong to everyone, including people with hearing or visual impairments. Thanks to a flagship project led by the Association of Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Podgorica, nine museums across the Western Balkans are being adapted to ensure equal access for all visitors.

The initiative trains museum staff in sign language and accessibility skills, develops tailor-made video and audio guides, and creates inclusive experiences for sensory-impaired audiences.

The beneficiaries include the Natural History Museum in Podgorica, Local History Museum Pljevlja, Polimski Museum Berane, the National Museum of Serbia, Natural History Center Svilajnac, Museum of Yugoslavia, National Archaeological Museum in Durrës, National Historical Museum in Tirana, and the National Historical Museum in Kruja.

Co-funded by the European Union through IPA III, this project marks an important step toward making culture and heritage truly accessible to all.
