The SYNERGY Conference concluded with a significant panel discussion on “Innovative Financing Strategies for Sustainable Growth in Western Balkans Cities,” bringing together key stakeholders to explore financial sustainability and regional development.
The panel featured distinguished guests, including Mr. Beqir Sellaj, Deputy Mayor of Ulcinj; Ms. Marie Augouy, Programme Manager for Local Governance and Regional Development at the Delegation of the EU to Albania; Mr. Besim Kamberaj, Secretary General at the Ministry for Regional Development; Ms. Ana Ilić from NALED; Ms. Valbona Karakaci from Bashki te Forta – Strong Municipalities by Helvetas; Mr. Nikola Naumovski from the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative; and Ms. Misela Majnolovic from The Union of Municipalities of Montenegro.
Discussions focused on the urgent need for innovative financing mechanisms, stronger public-private partnerships, and regional cooperation to enhance the financial sustainability of municipalities.
Experts shared best practices and explored solutions to overcome financial and governance challenges in urban development. The panel emphasized the role of EU support, international collaboration, and anti-corruption initiatives in ensuring effective resource management and sustainable city growth.
