Highlights of the 3 days of Unstoppable Conference

On 22 February 2023, the third day of the Unstoppable Conference took place at Hotel Maritim Plaza, in Tirana, Albania.

The day started with inspiring and encouraging stories of individuals actively engaged in democratic societies and peace-building around both Regions and beyond.

Christiane Hohman (EU Ambassador to Albania), Ruth Huber (Swiss Ambassador to Albania), Valdete Idrizi (Director of Culture, Youth and Sports in the Municipality of Mitrovica), Veronika Skoupa (Forum 2000), Magdalena Jakubowska (Visegrad Insight), Aida Corovic (Human Rights Activist) and Petrit Selimi (Millenium Foundation) participated in this panel moderated by Sanja Lazic.

At midday, the Exclusive Circles Session followed. Based on their preference, participants divided in three circles, the financial literacy and its impact in gender equality, gender equality peace and security and combating sexist hate speech.

The afternoon kicked-off with a panel dedicated to future young leaders. The “Leading our Way! Young leaders take the stage panel” tackled generational gaps and perceived credibility issues.

The panel tried to give answer to questions regarding what can it be done more to address the challenges the young people face today and how to share their authentic voice against the chorus of other people’s expectations.

Katarina Popovic (Alumni of Japan Aviation School), Ferid Murseli (Democracy for Development), Ania Sauku (Albanian Youth Delegate to the United Nations), Dimitrije Jovicevic (Connect International), Domenika Vondrackova (Youth SpeakUp), Ognen Janeski (No Hate Speech Ambassador for Western Balkans) participated in this panel, moderated by Azem Kurtic.

Finally, the afternoon ended with an inspiring Storytelling Session, a 3 hours of intense, storytelling session with inspiring individuals who shared stories of resilience in face of adversity where there is no shame… only triumph!

Moderated by Ognen Janeski, this panel welcomed the stories of Edita Tahiri (former deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo*), Belma Alispahic (Enterpreneur), Filip Vulovic (Human Rights Activits), Selma Lalic (Lawyer), Elizabeta Imeraj (Lecturer, former Prosecutor of Tirana District), Marta Lempart (All-Poland Women’s Strike), Rudina Çollaku (Women Center for Development and Culture), Marko Mihailovic (Human Rights Activist).
