First Joint Action ends

On 12 January 2024, we proudly celebrate the successful termination of the Joint Action between the European Commission and the Western Balkans Fund (WBF).

Since the inaugural ceremony in November 2021, the “Support to the Promotion of Civil Society Regional Actions in the Western Balkans” project has made a big difference all over the Region by promoting regional cooperation, a key component of the EU’s policy towards the Western Balkans.

By financing through grants regional projects of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), many of them grass-root or newly established organizations, the Joint Action supported the participation of CSOs in projects on social, cultural, scientific, and economic topics, including gender equality and disability inclusiveness, thus enhancing good neighbourly relations and reconciliation.

Through the implementation phase, the WBF organized over 30 Regional Conferences and Meetings, including 24 Info Sessions, informing stakeholders about the opportunities provided by the Joint Action and other EU Initiatives.

In total, we awarded 69 grants, out of 375 eligible applications received for the First and the Second Call for Proposals. 264 stakeholders and dozens of thousands of citizens benefited directly from the action.
