News/Events The Secretariat Unstoppable Conference

Exclusive Circles of the Unstoppable Conference

These parallel sessions will be conducted in a workshop/group work format led by experts, who will assist you with identifying which tools you can use to make your own change, transform injustice, and practice leadership in breaking through barriers in their own lives.

This session will take place on 22 February 2023, from 12.00-14.00 hr

Financial Literacy and its impact in gender equality

Financial freedom is available to those who learn about it and work for it

How can we eliminate the gender pay gap? How do we lift women out of poverty? How do we create a future of female leaders and innovators on an equal playing field with their male counterparts? We believe the answer lies in combining common values with financial literacy advocacy. In this sessions, together with experts you are invited to examine how financial literacy among women will create a society which more accurately reflects our values. Within this session together with expert you will explore concrete actions to help lead you to achievement, and most importantly talk about where you are today and where you want to go and share some of the important steps to take along the way.

Gender Equality, Peace and Security

“The real differences are between those who embrace peace and those who would destroy it. Between those who look to the future and those who cling to the past.”

It is well known that violent conflict disproportionately affects women and girls and intensifies pre-existing gender inequalities and discrimination. Women are also active agents of peace in armed conflict, yet their role as key players and change agents of peace has been largely unrecognized. Uncertainty is no reason to stand still, because even as life pushes us in a new direction, those first steps can lead you right to surprising new paths. Within this session experts will explore concrete actions to help lead attendees towards fair treatment.

Combating Sexist Hate Speech

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Hate is moving into the mainstream, targeting individuals and groups of people sharing or perceived as sharing ‘a common characteristic,’ such as race, ethnicity, language, religion, nationality, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or any other fundamental characteristic, or a combination of them. During the session, Experts will present new perspectives referring to fundamental legal tools on the protection on human rights standards. The discussion will enable you to better understand what “sexist hate speech is” and how to advocate to fight violence targeting women, the LBTQ+ community, people with disabilities and the elderly with similar tools including against racism and xenophobia.
