The U-13 Balkans Cup in Niksic was more than just a competition—it became a bridge of friendships for the young girls who participated.
Among them was Erisa Tershalla, who traveled to Niksic in October with her team from Tirana. The tournament offered not only an excellent opportunity to compete but also a chance to forge lasting bonds.
To document the success of this memorable event, we had the pleasure of asking Erisa a few questions about her experience.
– Who are you (a little background) and how important is basketball in your life?
I am Erisa Tershalla and I’m 14 years old. This is my fourth year playing basketball and throught this journey I have made new friends, new memories, I have developed my basketball skills, but not ony that, I also learned how to communicate and cooperate with others. I can say that it has become a really important part of my life.
– How would you describe the experience in Niksic Cup? Did you enjoy the competition?
The tournament was a very good experience. During this event we as a team were offered the opportunity to play against teams that are actually of a higher level than us, which became our aspiration.
– What about the classes?
The workshops between were really interesting. The speech of president of the Basketball Federation of Montenegro Ms Jelena also moved me and gave me courage and motivation, because as a female sometimes continuing the sport may seem a little more difficult.
– Did you make any new friendships?
Yes, this tournament helped us become closer and we also got to know new friends which were the same age as us and had the same interests.
– Would you like to participate in other similar competitions in the Region?
I think it would be great if our team would participate in such tournaments again. We all enjoyed the event and came home full of new and unforgettable memories. These experiences are exactly what young players from small countries like us need.
