Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nikola Poposki met with Executive Director of International Visegrad Fund Ms. Beata Jaczewska and the Director of the Western Balkans Fund, Mr. Gjergj Murra.
Talks at the meeting focused on opportunities to finance regional cooperation projects through the International Visegrad Fund – institution of Visegrad Group countries, through which initiatives for greater social interaction among these countries are supported as well as cooperation projects with neighboring regions such as the Balkans and the Eastern Partnership. The focus of mutual interest is project cooperation in areas of culture, science and research, economy, youth mobility, education, promoting tourism and border cooperation, directed above all towards supporting the non-governmental sector.
The meeting also tackled priorities in project cooperation within the framework of the Western Balkans Fund, which is in the process of being established in Tirana, founded by WB countries, based on the model of International Visegrad Fund success story.
Interlocutors ascertained that the joint financial contribution of Western Balkans countries in this Fund’s projects will increase regional cooperation, intensify reforms on the road to EU integration, and improve stability and security in the region, as well as the infrastructure and inter-connectivity.
