We are tremendously proud to share the inspiring and truly unique success story of Wines of Macedonia, one of our former grantees. Their journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, and today we stand in awe of their achievements.
Back in 2019, Wines of Macedonia approached our fund with an ambitious idea: to create a Balkan Wine Network, bringing together wineries from all across the Western Balkans region. Recognizing the immense potential of this project, we decided to support their vision, giving it the name “Wines as a Bridge of Cooperation in the Western Balkans Region.”
Little did we know at the time that our grant would ignite a spark that would blaze brightly for years to come.
Today, we stand witness to the official establishment of the “Balkan Wines Association” in Skopje, a culmination of the hard work and dedication put in by Wines of Macedonia and their partners.
What began as a small project supported by the Western Balkans Fund has now grown into a thriving community of hundreds of wine producers and invaluable partners, including the European Union and the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction (EBDR).
The establishment of the Balkan Wines Association will undoubtedly boost employment, enhance competitiveness, and foster increased exports of wines made-in Western Balkans.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to “Wines of Macedonia” for their warm reception and for bestowing upon the Western Balkans Fund an appreciation prize. Their story serves as a shining example of the incredible impact that can be achieved through grant-giving organizations like ours.
As we reflect on this exceptional grantee, we are reminded that our history is filled with many inspirational and wonderful stories.
