Basket Coach/ From Vojvodina, embracing the new Regional Platform of Cooperation

Milan Ivanic is one of the beneficiaries of the “U-13 WBF-sponsored Basketball Cup” held in Niksic.

Together with his team, he travelled from Novi Sad and supervised a stunning performance from the girls of Vojvodina U21 Basketball Club.

We had the pleasure to interview him in the aftermath of the cup.

Dear Milan, can you describe kindly for our public who are you?

My name is Milan Ivanić, and I am from Novi Sad. I have been working as a basketball coach since 2010, with experience in Female Basketball Club Vrbas, Female Basketball Clu Novi Sad, and currently, Female Basketball Clu Vojvodina 021. I have coached all age categories and won multiple championships in Vojvodina with the younger age groups (cadets and juniors), as well as national championships with cadets and juniors. I also led the ŽKA first team in Serbia’s First League.
I am also part of the coaching staff of the Serbian national team with the U16 generation, with whom I won a silver medal in Spain. In addition to coaching, I work as a physical education teacher.

How was your experience in the Niksic U13 Basketball Cup? Are you satisfied with the level of the game and classes?

The experience in Nikšić was fantastic, and I am very happy to have been part of the entire project, which was organized at the highest possible level. Every detail was carefully considered, and I have nothing but praise for the lead partner and all project partners.

How important is for you and your team to establish cooperations in the Region? How does this help?

Collaboration in the region is very important and valuable because exchanging experiences allows you to learn a lot and improve yourself.

Besides the fun of the game, what do you think the young girls learn in the process?

Alongside fun and play, as you mentioned, the girls, by meeting their peers from the region, broaden both their sports and cultural horizons. They form connections and friendships, some of which last a lifetime.

Would you return next year to compete for the title?
Of course, I would love to return, and I genuinely hope to be invited again next year. It will be challenging to defend the title we won, as there are many fantastic girls developing, whom I hope will grow into great players.
