The Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Europe, H.E. Olta Xhaçka, announced the takeover of the Chairmanship-in-Office of the Fund in 2023.
“We will continue to reinforce our proactive role in the Region throughout 2023 with the hosting of the 2023 Berlin Process Summit and the Chairmanship-in-Office of the Western Balkans Fund”, said among others, H.E. Xhaçka, in a press conference on 6 January 2023.
After the CSO Meeting of 24 January, the takeover is complete.
The Western Balkans Fund is deeply grateful to the wise and energetic leadership of Belgrade 2022.
Under Belgrade’s tenure, the Western Balkans Fund grew exponentially as an international organisation. Among many successes, the Fund was able to launch two Calls six months apart for the first time in our history, sign new partnership agreements and improve our institutional and organisational capacities.
The Tirana 2023 CiO has identified three main priorities that will be followed during the year.
- Further institutional strengthening of the Western Balkans Fund
- Increasing Fund visibility throughout the Region and beyond
- Continuation and strengthening of the cooperation with the existing partners and creation of new partnerships
