Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia visits WBF
The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, H.E. Mr. Ivan Korcok, during his official stay in Albania visited Western Balkans Fund premises in Tirana. Minister Korcok has been touring the Western Balkans capitals immediately after the publication of the new enlargement strategy of European Union for the WB.
His visit to the Region is an expression of the support of Slovakia and V4 Group countries for the development and integration of the Western Balkans. Also it is a clear sign of support for the Western Balkans Fund that is following the model of International Visegrad Fund (composed by V4 countries: Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia).
The Executive Director of WBF, Dr. Murra informed Minister Korcok about the mission and activities of the WBF and the main aim of the Fund to contribute directly to people-to-people contacts in the Western Balkan Region. The senior expert of WBF, Mr. Aleksandar Vesic, presented details related to the First Call for Regional Project Proposals.
Minister Ivan Korcok talked about the importance of this initiative on bringing together the people in the Western Balkans: “The role of WBF is undisputable. The Civil Society in the region should be fully involved and together with their Governments jointly to contribute toward the EU integration processes of the countries”.
He mentioned that “it is a promising element that WBF have a large number of applications and that it’s obvious that WBF support for the regional cooperation remains crucial.”
