News/Events The Secretariat WBF Calls

4th Call for Proposals is finally OPEN

8 November 2021

The Western Balkans Fund is happy to announce that starting today, 8 November 2021, the application process for eligible subjects from the Contracting Parties is open.

Applications can be submitted through the application system found in the official webpage of the Fund.

This is the fourth call since WBF establishment in 2017, but the first one that benefits from significant support from the European Union, co-funding the regional grants through the IPA – Instrument for Pre-Accession.

Civil Society organisations are the primary beneficiary of EU/WBF joint action, but eligible potential grantees include associations, foundations, not-for-profit organisations, regional networks, local and regional public entities, or business associations.

The call will remain open until 23 December 2021, for a total of 45 days. The WBF team will travel through the region to meet stakeholders and potential grantees in Info Sessions, during which all the interested parties will receive detailed information on how to apply, how to form partnerships with like-minded partners from the region and more. A full calendar will follow shortly.

Western Balkans Fund, an international organization founded by Foreign Ministries of WB6, is a unique regional mechanism, and a sign of a new cooperation spirit
taking roots in the Western Balkans region.

Through the support of regional projects, WBF contributes directly to improve closer cooperation within the region, making it, more visible, accessible, and thus, increasingly respected as a low-cost, high-yield investment for the entire Western Balkans.

In the previous regional calls (2017-2020), the WBF attracted 890 applications from CSOs and other stakeholders, directly including 3,430 organisations, reaching out to more than 10,000 citizens.

Thanks to the European Union support, the fourth call for proposals will be the largest to date in terms of financial support provided to the grantees and the number of projects supported.
